Our Youth

Helping students maximize their potential

We are an agency that serves predominantly underserved youth in grades K–12 on the South Coast of Santa Barbara County, helping students maximize their potential and growth.

Where Students Start

Two ways to get involved with EYC

EYC Scholars

If you are an engaged student in grades 7 through 12 with a vested interest in enhancing your life, this program is for you. EYC Scholars receive afterschool tutoring, academic and career path workshops, field trips and internship opportunities.

Take the next step in building your scholastic future. If you promise to do the work, we promise to find you opportunities.

Summer Workforce Internships

Paid summer internships with local businesses for South Coast secondary students of all backgrounds, with a focus on low- to moderate-income families.

In 2026, seven students completed internships in sports medicine, graphic design and engraving, animal care and architecture. Strong evaluations make students eligible for post-secondary scholarships.

EYC’s Impact

Students on their way

Since 1986, EYC has been a leading advocate for young African Americans on the Central Coast. Here are a few of the students we have been proud to support.

Jayden Lewis

Supported by EYC as a student at Dunn School.

Olivia Zahir

Attended the 2019 Leaders of the Future Conference in Boston with EYC’s support.

Komi Fabrice Tay

Earned an A.S. in Fire Technology from Mission College.

Become a Pay It Forward Ambassador

EYC Scholars who succeed with our support are asked to pay it forward — mentoring, volunteering and opening doors for the students who come after them.

Work hard, work with us, and we will work for you.
